Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a gallon-sized zip-top bag and sprinkle the dry brine mixture over the chicken, coating it evenly.
  3. Seal the bag and place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.
  4. Remove the chicken from the bag and rinse it thoroughly under cold water to remove the excess salt.
  5. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and then cook it using your preferred method.

This dry brine will not only make your chicken breasts more flavorful, but it will also help to keep them moist during cooking. I personally love to bake my chicken breasts in the oven, which is why I'm also sharing with you my favorite recipe for baked chicken breasts:

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried basil, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish and brush both sides of each breast with the olive oil mixture.
  4. Bake in the oven for 22-25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  5. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
